Small earthquake rolls over ocean floor near Big Island
Advertiser StaffA small but measurable earthquake took place beneath the ocean's surface near the Big Island Saturday night.
The quake, which was assigned a preliminary magnitude of 3.0, occurred at 9:22 p.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey's
Hawaiian Volcano Observatory at the Hawaii National Park on the Big Islands.
The quake's epicenter was reported to be about 28 miles west-southwest of Honaunau.
There were no reports of injuries or damage associated with the temblor.
