Police officers attacked in Kailua, Haleiwa

Charges are pending against two men arrested on suspicion

of attacking police officers.

A Honokai Hale man, 21, was arrested at 1:30 a.m. today on Hekili Street in Kailua on suspicion of striking a male officer, 42, who was attempting to break up a fight involving a group of men.

The man also was being held on an outstanding $50 warrant.

In an unrelated incident, a 44-year-old man with no permanent local address was arrested in Hale'iwa at about 10:30 a.m. after he allegedly struck and scratched a male police officer, 38, responding to a robbery complaint at 66-135 Kamehameha Hwy.

The man arrested also was held for questioning about robbing of an elderly woman in front of a store.

Neither struck officer was seriously injured, police said.
