UH, Brennan continue passing fancy in NCAA statistics

Hawai'i quarterback Colt Brennan continues to lead three passing catetories in the Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I) after the second week of games, according to statistics at the NCAA Web site.Brennan, a senior, is No. 1 in passing yards (482 yards per game), total offense (489.5 ypg) and points responsible for (33 per game). He completed 43 of 61 passes for 548 yards in a 45-44 victory over Louisiana Tech Saturday.
Hawai'i also has the top passing offense with 544 yards per game.
Brennan also is No. 3 in completions per game at 38.5 (Graham Harrell of Texas Tech is No. 1 with 46 per game) and No. 7 in passing efficiency with a 187.1 rating (Sam Bradford of Oklahoma is No. 1 with 237.7 after two games).
The Warriors are No. 2 in total offense (585 yards per game), behind No. 1 Louisville (692) and tied for fifth in scoring offense (54 points per game), behind No. 1 Louisville's 65.6.
Three UH receivers are in the top 10 in receptions per game: No. 6 Jason Rivers (9.5), No. 8 Ryan Grice-Mullins (9.0) and No. 9 Davone Bess (8.5). Jamarko Simmons of Western Michigan has 14 per game to rank No. 1. Grice-Mullins is No. 5 in receiving yards per game (146.0) and Rivers No. 6 (138.5). Casey Fitzgerald of North Texas is No. 1 with 226.5.
In the defensive statistics, Kaua'i native Jordon Dizon, a linebacker at Colorado, leads in tackles per game (17.5) and solo tackles per game (13.5). Hawai'i's Solomon Elimimian is tied for 49th at 9.5 in tackles per game.
