'Aiea's ClearFuels makes list of promising companies

Advertiser Staff

ClearFuels Technology Inc., an 'Aiea company developing biomass-to-energy technology, has been selected as one of the AlwaysOn GoingGreen Top 100 private companies.

The honor is compiled an editorial panel and identifies the most promising entrepreneurial opportunities and investments in clean technologies.

"ClearFuels is developing biorefineries that can produce clean renewable fuels from waste biomass or sustainable energy crops," said ClearFuels President George St. John, in a news release.

"Our biofuel refinery design integrates efficient production of cellulosic ethanol from bagasse and cane trash with existing sugar mill and sugar fermentation facilities. This allows relative production flexibility of ethanol, sugar and power to optimize economic returns in response to commodity market prices, while increasing overall efficiency in a sustainable manner."

ClearFuels' first commercial demonstration facility is currently under development in Hawaii.
