Firefighters monitoring small Schofield brushfire

Advertiser Staff

The Army is monitoring a small brushfire that apparently was a remnant of the weeklong Waialua fire last month.

Smoke was reported at 1:57 this afternoon, and Honolulu Fire Department Engine 16 was sent out but discovered that the smoke was coming from above the firing range at Schofield Barracks, said Capt. Terry Seelig, HFD spokesman.

The Army said the flareup from last month's weeklong Waialua fire covered a small area and personnel are watching it.
