U.S. Probation Office offers construction work prep

Advertiser Staff

A national pilot program to provide job training for individuals with federal criminal convictions has been created by a U.S. Probation Office here.

Created in partnership with the Construction Training Center of the Pacific, the program offers 150 hours of rigorous training meant to prepare offenders to enter building trade apprenticeships.

Instruction includes basic craft mathematics and communications, construction safety and a job-readiness course.

The training is conducted at the local detention center and is meant to prepare offenders to look for construction jobs immediately after release.

The U.S. Probation Office offers support to companies willing to hire the trainees.
