Selling minors liquor results in $2,000 fine

The Honolulu Liquor Commission last week fined Kenny's Coffee House & Restaurant $2,000 for repeat violations of laws against selling liquor to minors.

The commission also fined Dixie Grill BBQ & Crab Shack, Kabuki Restaurant & Delicatessen and Newtown Pancake House $1,000 for violations of selling liquor to a minor.

The commission took the following actions:

  • Bikini Cantina LLC was found guilty and fined $250 for violating a rule on a nonregistered employee. In addition, the licensee pleaded no contest and was fined $500 for violating a rule against permitting liquor of any kind to be open and readily consumable within the licensed premises after a certain hour established by the commission, which in this case was 2:10 a.m.

  • Hard Rock Café (no contest) was fined $500 for violating a rule regarding "sounds emanating from the licensed premises cause undue disturbance which disrupted the peace and quiet of the neighborhood."

  • The Shack (no contest) was fined $100 for a violation of stacking drinks.

  • Banditos (no contest) was not assessed a penalty for violation of a rule against interfering with investigations or commission operations in any way.

    During the public hearings portion of the meeting, the commission:

  • Approved the application from KMLEE Inc. for the transfer of the business and retail general license of Ohana Super Market Inc. (dba Marujyu Market) at 98-020 Kamehameha Hwy. and for a change of trade name to KMLEE Inc.

  • Approved the application from Young Kook Kwon for the transfer of the business and retail general license of KMLEE Inc. (dba Salt Lake Wine & Spirits) at 848 Ala Lilikoi St. and for a change of trade name to Salt Lake Wines and Spirits.

  • Approved the application from Anheuser-Busch Sales of Hawaii Inc. for a change of kind from a wholesale beer and wine license to a wholesale general license at 99-877 Iwaena St.

    During the preliminary hearings, license and requests portion of the meeting, the commission:

  • Approved the application from Tio's Garage & Taco LLC for the transfer of the business and restaurant general license (Cat. No. 2 - Live entertainment or Recorded Music and Dancing) of Dixie-Que Inc. (dba Dixie Grill BBQ + Crab Shack) at 404 Ward Ave. and for a change of trade name to Tio's — Garage & Taco Station. The commission also approved a temporary restaurant general license.

  • Approved the application from Spada Ltd. (dba Spada Bar & Restaurant) for a hotel general license at 2200 Kuhio Ave. (Wyland Waikiki Resort & Spa).

  • Approved the application from Green Clover Corp. for a restaurant general license (Cat. No. 2 - Live entertainment or Recorded Music and Dancing) at 1108 Ke'eaumoku St.

  • Approved the application from Nadaman U.S.A. Inc. for a temporary restaurant general license at 1006 Kapahulu Ave., the current site of Wasabi Bistro.

  • Approved the application from Kam Wah Corp. (dba Kin Wah Chop Suey) for the approval of the redemption and transfer of capital stock and notification of change of officer at 45-588 Kamehameha Highway.

  • Approved the application from Daum Hawaii Inc. (dba Mas Liquor and Tobacco) for approval of the transfer of capital stock and notification of new officer, director and stockholder.

  • Approved the application from BMT Inc. (dba Can's Bar and Grill) for approval of the transfer of capital stock and notification of new officers, directors and stockholders at 614 Cooke St.

  • Approved the request from T-Spot Hideaway Inc. to permanently extend its licensed premises and make alterations at 590 Farrington Hwy., Unit 505 & 506.

  • Denied the request from Totally Titanium of Hawaii Inc. (dba Déjà Vu Showgirls) to renew its cabaret general license No. I0065 for fiscal year 2007-08.
