Damaged drain slowing east-bound H-1 traffic in Waiau

Advertiser Staff

A damaged storm drain on H-1 Freeway is wreaking havoc on the east-bound morning commute in the Waiau area.

At least nine cars traveling on the H-1 have pulled to the shoulder with tire damage after driving over the drain and east-bound traffic to town is backing up past the Kunia onramp.

The storm drain is located between the Kaonohi and Ka'ahumanu overpasses.

Traffic on the rest of the main roads into town appear to be moving at a typical pace, meaning heavy and bottlenecking in the usual rush-hour areas.
