Sweep arrests 29 fugitives

Associated Press

A crime sweep led by the U.S. Marshals Service on Kaua'i has netted 29 fugitives, mostly arrested in outstanding drug cases.

The federal agents joined sheriff's deputies, Kaua'i police, Big Island police and the prosecutor's office in a four-day operation last week.

The sweep lasted from sunrise Tuesday to sunset Friday and resulted in 42 outstanding warrants being cleared or executed. Five additional drug charges were also filed.

Besides drug crimes, arrests were made in assault, sexual-assault and family-abuse cases.
