HONOLULU
Forgery arrests of 2 women

Advertiser Staff

Police arrested two women in a 15-hour span Monday and yesterday for allegedly trying to cash counterfeit traveler's checks at different Honolulu locations.

Police said there's no evidence to indicate the cases are related.

Police on Monday arrested a 36-year-old woman at an unnamed financial institution in Wai'anae after employees determined the traveler's check was a fake.

A second woman, 39, was arrested yesterday at 5:30 a.m. at an unnamed Honolulu store for trying to purchase items with a counterfeit $500 traveler's check.

Both women were arrested for investigation of second-degree forgery.
