Man, 62, beaten with metal pipe in Kalihi

Witnesses prevented further injury to a 62-year-old man by stopping a pipe-weilding assailant from continuing to strike the unconscious victim in an early morning altercation on Kalihi Street, police said.The condition of the victim who was taken to the hospital was not updated by police but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
A man, 28, was detained by witnesses for police who arrested him for investigation of second-degree assault at 2 a.m.
Police said the two men had been involved in an altercation and that the victim was struck on the head from behind as he walked away from the suspect.
