Hawai'i's death reporting system wins award

Hawai'i's electronic death registration system, a computerized system that streamlines and helps manage death records, has been cited as a winner in the government-to-government category of the 2007 Best of Web and Digital Government Achievement Awards.The program recognizes outstanding sites and applications that enhance information interactions and services. The state Department of Health received a federal grant to help implement the program, which has made it easier for counties and others to report and record the about 9,000 deaths that occur in the state each year.
