Rep. Kucinich in Hawaii for four-day campaign stop

Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich kicks off his four-day, four-island campaign today.

Democrat Dennis Kucinich will be the first presidential candidate to visit Hawai'i when he arrives at Honolulu International Airport at 10:45 a.m. today to kick off a four-day, four-island campaign.

Kucinich is in his sixth term as an Ohio Congressman. He ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2004 and came in second in Hawai'i's caucus voting with more than 31 percent of the popular vote.

The schedule of events and appearances for Kucinich is as follows:

  • 10:45 a.m.: Arrive at Honolulu International Airport, meet with supporters

  • 11:30 a.m.: Luncheon meeting with AFL-CIO union leaders and staff, Hawaii State Teachers Association headquarters, 1200 Ala Kapuna St., Honolulu.

  • 12:30-2 p.m.: media interviews

  • 2 p.m.: Depart Honolulu International Airport for Hilo

  • 4 p.m.: Media interviews, University of Hawai'i-Hilo, Student Association office

  • 5-5:45 p.m.: Hawaii Public Radio

  • 6 p.m.: Public speech and Q & A, UH-Hilo, Campus Center Plaza

  • 7:30 p.m.: Flight back to Honolulu International Airport

    Friday

  • 5:30-10 a.m.: live television interviews, other media interviews

  • 11 a.m.: Leave Honolulu International Airport for Maui

  • Noon: Guest speaker, Maui County Democratic Party luncheon, Dunes at Maui Lani Golf Course Restaurant, 1333 Mauilani Parkway, Kahului

  • 1:15-2 p.m.: Live news conference and viewer call-ins, Akaku Community Television, 333 Dairy Road, Kahului

  • 4-7 p.m.: Private fundraiser, Waiehu

  • 7:30-9 p.m.: Speech and Q & A, Paina Building, Maui Community College, sponsored by Maui Peace Action, MCC Peace Club, Hawaii Institute for Human Rights, (Overnight in Maui.)

    Saturday

  • 10:30 a.m.: "Stand Up For Children" public speaking event, Queen Kaahumanu Mall, Kahului, Maui; sponsored by Maui Family Support Services

  • 12:30 p.m.: leave for Honolulu
