Astronomy open house on Maui

The University of Hawaii Institute for Astronomy will hold its first Maui Open House from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Maikalani Advanced Technology Research Center.

The free event features laboratory tours, demonstrations, star-gazing through telescopes, and talks on astronomy topics.

Admission is free. The new facility supports the institute's work on solar astronomy and the Pan-STARRS PS1 telescope atop Haleakala.
