Surf decreasing throughout Hawaii

Advertiser Staff

A high surf advisory is in effect for south-facing shores until 4 this morning, the National Weather Service said, with overnight surf ranging from 4 to 8 feet.

The large swell was generated seven days ago by a low pressure front southeast of New Zealand. Surf is highest along outer reefs.

Surf will be decreasing along south shores to 3 to 5 feet early today.

Elsewhere, surf along the north shores is dropping to 2 to 3 feet and west-facing shores will see surf 1 to 3 feet. East shores will see surf 2 to 4 feet.

Aside from a small northwest swell this weekend, no other significant swells are expected.
