WAI'ANAE
Homecoming parade today

Advertiser Staff

Wai'anae High School will cap its yearlong 50th anniversary celebration with its first homecoming parade in more than a quarter of a century from 3 to 4 p.m. today.

Floats, bands and nine former homecoming queens will be part of the parade, which will move from Poka'i Bay to Wai'anae High School.

The parade also will feature alumni, students, members of the community and Anita Korenaga, who was there when the school doors opened on May 2, 1957.

The last such parade was in 1979, according to school officials.

The parade will be followed by the annual homecoming dinner and the homecoming football game.
