Brief cloudbursts a possibility later today

A high pressure area far to the northeast of the state is expected to keep moderate to fresh trade winds blowing through the new week and into next weekend.

The rest of today, however, will include light winds and more than the usual amount of clouds and showers, according to the National Weather Service. Most of the showers will fall over windward areas, forecasters said.

With the air moist and slightly unstable, a few of the showers are expected to be briefly heavy.

Expect a return to more settled trade wind weather by tomorrow, which will persist into next week.

Here's a more detailed look at what to expect for the next few days:

Today, sunny in the morning, then partly sunny with isolated showers in the afternoon. Highs 80 to 89. Light winds becoming south around 10 mph in the late morning and afternoon. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tonight, mostly clear with isolated showers. Lows 69 to 76. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Sunday, sunny. Isolated showers in the afternoon. Highs 81 to 89. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Sunday night, mostly clear with isolated showers. Lows 70 to 76. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Monday, sunny with isolated showers. Highs 80 to 89. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
