Hilo shoppers urged to comply with free parking limits

Advertiser Staff

The County of Hawai'i is asking shoppers who frequent Downtown Hilo to observe the time-limit restrictions on free parking.

On Sept. 12, the county Public Works department began enforcing one-, two- and eight-hour time limits on free parking between Wailuku Drive and Kukuau Street and between Kino'ole and Kamehameha avenues in Downtown Hilo.

Parked vehicles that exceed the time limits are receiving notices; "time limit parking, violators will be fined $35." A parking ticket is issued after two notices. Parking is enforced Monday-Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding holidays.

For additional information, call Public Works at 808-961-8321.
