Tennis: Davenport to meet Hantuchova in Bali final

Associated Press

NUSA DUA, Indonesia — Lindsay Davenport advanced to the final of the Bali Open in her first singles tournament since having a baby in June.

Davenport cruised past Sara Errani, 6-1, 6-3, today. In the final tomorrow, she will face second-seeded Daniela Hantuchova, who defeated qualifier Sorana Cirstea 7-5, 6-1.

Davenport played doubles at the Pilot Pen in late August and returned to singles play for the first time since having son, Jagger, this summer.

"It's amazing," Davenport said. "You always hope and you want to do well. But each time you come back from whatever, you always have a bit of self doubt."

Davenport double-faulted as she served for the first set, and then double-faulted twice more as she surrendered her serve again at the start of the second. But she rallied and closed out the match by winning the final five games.

"I made a few quick errors and double-faults ... but I was able to get refocused," she said. "I thought it was a good match for me to play. I was in control of a lot of points and could be aggressive."
