Advertiser Staff

Big Island police have charged two Hilo residents with drug offenses, including the trafficking of methamphetamine.

Investigators with the department's Vice Section executed a search warrant on a Paipai Street home in the Panaewa area early Tuesday morning and arrested 33-year-old Peter K. Mahi and 35-year-old Maria L. Spencer.

Officers reported recovering 1.5 grams of "ice" and several items of paraphernalia related to the drug's use and distribution.

Mahi and Spencer were each charged with third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, possessing drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine trafficking. Their bail was set at $26,000 each. They appeared for their initial court appearance in South Hilo District Court on Thursday.

Bail for the pair was maintained and they are being held at Hawai'i Community Correctional Center.
