Ex-UH kicker Elam again boots Denver to win

Advertiser Staff

Former University of Hawaii kicker Jason Elam did it again.

Elam's 23-yard field goal in overtime lifted the Denver Broncos to a 23-20 victory over the visiting Oakland Raiders today.

Last week, Elam kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired to beat the Buffalo Bills.

Elam is now 7-for-8 in field-goal accuracy during overtime.

The score was tied at 20 at the end of regulation.

Denver won the toss in overtime but couldn't get a first down.

Oakland then drove to Denver's 34.

Sebastian Janikowski at first hit a 52-yard field goal, appearing to give the Raiders the win. But Denver had called time out just before the kick.

Janikowski's next kick hit the left upright and bounced off, giving Denver the ball on the 42.

The Broncos drove to the Raiders 6, from where Elam converted his field goal on first down.

Denver is 2-0. Oakland 0-2.
