KEKAHA, Kaua'i — A Kekaha man died Friday night from injuries suffered in a traffic collision on Kaumuali'i Highway, according to a news release issued today.

Kaua'i police identified the man as Stetson Furtado, 20.

According to police, Furtado was operating a Suzuki motorcycle on Kaumuali'i Highway that struck a Dodge station wagon about one-tenth mile west of mile marker 27 in Kekaha at 5:44 p.m.

The station wagon was attempting a U-turn, police said. The 70-year-old male driver of the car was not injured.

Furtado died at Kaua'i Veterans Memorial Hospital.

His death is Kaua'i's seventh traffic fatality of the year as compared to 11 on the same date in 2006.
