'Aiea resident Kristie Campbell has 105 children — in Lilongwe, Malawi. The 22-year-old met them, orphans all, while traveling in Africa in 2003. She also met Macdonard Katuya, who started a school for the children. With no funding, he taught under the trees. Inspired by his dedication, Campbell returned to Malawi two years later with 300 pounds of school supplies, clothes and vitamins, and a $2,000 donation from her church. Now, her friend, 20-year-old Nina Brav, has started Revo (short for revolution), a nonprofit that aims to raise awareness of social injustice. In April, Brav held the first Revo event in her hometown, Hilo. The art and fashion show raised more than $5,000 — enough to buy food, school supplies, basic hygiene products for Campbell's kids and to build an orphanage for 40 children, minus the roofs. The current Revo goal: raise money to finish the job. To make a donation, or sponsor a child, e-mail Campbell at sheenaca@hawaii.edu or go to www.myspace.com/graceofgodorphanage.
