Advertiser Staff

A 38-year-old Kalihi man was injured in a stabbing incident outside his Kuhio Park Terrace home early yesterday morning.

Police say the victim reported that he was stabbed about 5:30 a.m. He reportedly woke up and went outside to smoke a cigarette when four men attacked and stabbed him four times in the back, according to police detectives.

The victim was reportedly taken to The Queen's Medical Center in serious condition.

Police said there were no arrests and no description of the suspects, who were not known to the victim.

OFFICER ASSAULTED BY MAN IN WAIKIKI

Honolulu police say a 23-year-old man assaulted a police officer in Waikiki early Friday morning.

The incident occurred about 4:55 a.m. when police responded to a report of a man lying in an intersection on Ala Moana.

When a uniform officer tried to help, the man jumped up and punched him several times, causing the officer to suffer bruises and cuts to his head.

The man had to be subdued with pepper spray, police said.

He was being held on a possible charge of first-degree assault against a police officer.

ACCUSED ABUSER STILL IN CUSTODY

A 32-year-old Kaimuki man accused of punching, choking and kicking a woman on several occasions last week remained in police custody last night.

Police said the man was arrested Friday night after the woman called to report the violence.

During the investigation, officers learned that the man had first hit the 47-year-old woman several times in an argument on Tuesday. When she tried to call the police, the man ripped the phone out of its jack and then left the house.

When he returned on Friday, the fighting started again and the woman was able to summon police, who arrested the man on charges connected with both incidents.

He was being held last night on possible charges of abuse of a family member and interfering with someone trying to report an emergency or crime.
