Hawaii officials to discuss film tax credits on Maui

The Office of Economic Development and the Maui Film Office will hold a discussion on the incentives and tax credits for the local film industry at 6 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Iao Theatre in Wailuku.

Donne Dawson, Hawai'i State film commissioner, and Joseph B. Tichy, administrative specialist for the State Department of Taxation, will explain the nuts and bolts of Act 88, the Motion Picture Digital Media and Film Production Tax Credit and Act 221/215, the High Technology Business Investment Tax Credit. The discussion will be moderated by Maui Film Commissioner Benita Brazier.

The seminar is the first in a fall series to be presented by the Maui Film Office. Subsequent seminars will include discussions on the Screen Actors Guild, film financing, film distribution and producing.
