Hawaii the only state where hybrid car sales falling

Hawai'i was the only state in the nation showing a decline in registrations of new hybrid cars during the first seven months of 2007, according to R.L. Polk & Co. The automotive information firm said registrations for such vehicles were up 49 percent in the U.S.Hawai'i's new hybrid registrations fell by 5.3 percent and compared with the 143 percent increase in Oklahoma, which led all states in growth, Polk said.
"Hybrids are being adopted by vehicle buyers in all regions at an increasing rate for many factors which include fuel prices, differentiating themselves from other consumers and environmental activism," said Lonnie Miller, Polk director of industry analysis, in a news release.
"The data indicates that hybrids have not hit plateau and that there is room for continued growth within the marketplace in all regions."
