Ronald Terry, a hospital executive, has been appointed by Gov. Linda Lingle as the administrator of the State Health Planning and Development Agency.

The agency reviews accessibility and quality issues in health-care and helps determine the need for more hospitals.

Terry was vice president of heart and vascular at Stanford USD Medical Center in South Dakota. He held several previous health-care positions in Hawai'i, including vice president of hospital operations at Wahiawa General Hospital.

"Ron has extensive experience in the planning, development and administration of health-care facilities at both statewide and local levels in urban and rural communities," Lingle said in a statement. "He knows firsthand what it takes to deliver health-care services to diverse populations."
