Associated Grocer sale approved by shareholders

Shareholders of Associated Grocers Inc., a grocery wholesaler whose markets include Hawai'i and Guam, approved the sale of the company to Unified Western Grocers of Los Angeles.Seattle-based Associated Grocers said the vote allows the creation of a $4 billion wholesale grocery company that will have the size and scale to enhance the competitiveness of independent grocers.
