Some eco-friendly tips for around the house, thanks to Family Circle magazine:

  • We know to dry our sheets and towels outdoors to save energy (and get great-smelling linen), but what about shirts? To prevent fading from the sun, turn the items inside-out on the line.

  • Disinfect and deodorize the toilet without chemical-heavy cleaners. Sprinkle the sides of the bowl with baking soda, let it sit for a few minutes, then drizzle with vinegar before giving it a good scrub and flush.

    KEEP IT SIMPLE

GET YOUR CAR IN SHAPE BEFORE THE RAINS COME

Rainy season is coming up. Now's the time to save yourself a load of trouble during that daily commute. Some tips:

  • Make sure your wiper fluid is filled. Nothing is worse for your field of vision than a smear of the day's grime across the expanse of your windshield.

  • Clean your wiper blades, or if they're
leaving a wide swath of blur, replace them. Now, doesn't that look better?

  • While you're at it, change the oil. When's the last time you did that? Really?

    FINAL WORD

"My mom met her husband looking for gas cans. He was looking at one and she said, 'No, don't buy that one. Try this one.' ... You never know. You could meet The One while shopping or doing laundry."
