Brennan sits out of practice with injured ankle

Associated Press

HONOLULU — Hawai'i quarterback Colt Brennan was on crutches and sat out today's practice with a sprained right ankle.

Brennan was injured before practice Friday but still played the next day, leading Hawaii to a 49-14 victory over UNLV. Even with his ankle swollen and discolored, Brennan ran for three touchdowns and passed for two more, completing 26-of-32 passes for 298 yards in three quarters.

Brennan said he twisted his ankle "screwing around."

Warriors coach June Jones yesterday said he was confident Brennan would play Saturday when No. 19 Hawai'i hosts Charleston Southern.
