Suspect in Aug. 16 Ewa Beach shooting arrested

Multiple felony charges are pending against against an 'Ewa man in connection with a shooting incident Aug. 16 in 'Ewa Beach.

Jake Jesus Mendoza Sr., 43, who is being held by police on two outstanding petty misdemeanor warrants totalling $900, last night on Hekili Street in Kailua.

Mendoza allegedly fired a shotgun at a woman, 35, during an argument between neighbors on Aug. 16. No one was injured but pellets from the shotgun round struck the rear tailgate of a vehicle near the woman.

Mendoza was arrested for investigation of first-degree reckless endangering, first- and second-degree terroristic threatening, third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, two firearm offenses, and two petty misdemeanor counts of third-degree assault.

According to Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center records, Mendoza has 27 prior convictions.
