Stryker Brigade meetings in Hawaii start next week

Advertiser Staff

The Army will next week convene the first of five public meetings on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the permanent stationing of the 2/25th Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT).

This EIS examines several alternative Army installations capable of supporting the permanent stationing of the 2/25th SBCT. It includes analysis of all activities (equipment fielding, training, facilities construction, and Soldier and Family support) required to permanently station the 2/25th SBCT. The public comment period, which began July 20, will end Oct. 30.

The public meetings on O'ahu and the Big Island will be held at the locations and times listed below. At each meeting, information stations with tabletop displays will be available for individuals who wish to obtain specific information from Army representatives from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m.

The formal program will begin at 6:45 p.m. and last until 9:45 p.m. where the public will have the opportunity to comment.

The public will be asked to sign in and sign up to comment on specific chapters. If the public chooses not to comment on a specific chapter, they will be advised that general comments will be taken at the conclusion of the chapter reviews. Comments will be limited to three to four minutes and managed by the meeting facilitator.
