Waianae meeting today addresses environmental issues

Advertiser Staff

O'ahu residents with worries about air pollution, ocean contamination and other environmental matters may air their concerns to the federal EPA Region 9 Environmental Justice coordinator at a special meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. tonight at the Wai'anae District Park meeting room.

Leslie Kahihikolo, the state's coordinator for developing new environmental justice concerns, will also be on hand to hear the community's recommendations about these sorts of safety issues.

Wai'anae State Rep. Maile Shimabukuro, D-45th (Wai'anae, Makaha, Makua), and other Wai'anae community leaders are expected to attend the meeting, which is being sponsored by KAHEA, AFSC Hawai'i and DMZ-Hawai'i.
