Hawaii's AG heads to Mexico to discuss meth trade

Hawai'i state Attorney General Mark Bennett says the meth trade is an issue important to both Mexico and the United States.

HONOLULU — Hawai'i state Attorney General Mark Bennett is leaving for Mexico to discuss fighting the methamphetamine trade with Mexican officials and attorneys general from other U.S. states.

They'll also be talking about how to deal with human trafficking.

Bennett says the meth trade is an issue important to both Mexico and the United States.

Mexico is a major source for meth, including some that's sold in Hawai'i.

Bennett says the U.S. attorneys general are looking forward to talking to their Mexican counterparts to find ways they can jointly face the problem.

Bennett will be joined by attorneys general from Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada and New Mexico.
