Big Island mayor's aide to run for county's top job

Associated Press

HONOLULU — Billy Kenoi, who served as Hawai'i County Mayor Harry Kim's aide for the past six years, is running for the mayor's seat in next year's elections.

Kenoi says the Big Island is at a critical place and time. He says government must have the vision and discipline to work toward long-term solutions rather than short-term fixes.

Kenoi says he plans to share his ideas in the coming months about issues such as affordable housing, healthcare, transportation, public safety and the island's infrastructure.
