Kumu Kahua looking for actors for 'Pele Ma'

Director John Wat is looking for an acting ensemble of 12 to 16 men and women, to portray 38 roles, for Kumu Kahua's production of "Pele Ma," which plays Jan. 10 to Feb. 10 at the Downtown theater.

Actors will take on character and narrative roles. Performers of all ethnic backgrounds are welcome. Experience, training and familiarity with hula, chant and Hawaiian language is not necessary, but the show will embrace Hawaiian cultural elements.

Tryouts are set from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 6, and 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 7, at the Academy of Film & Television, at 1174 Waimanu St., Suite A, behind Tahiti Imports.
