NFL: Bears cut Johnson, sign Jimoh

Associated Press

LAKE FOREST, Ill. — The Chicago Bears terminated punter Dirk Johnson's contract and re-signed cornerback Ade Jimoh today.

The Bears signed Johnson before last week's game against the Kansas City Chiefs, with Brad Maynard sidelined by a groin injury that ended his string of 161 consecutive games. Johnson averaged 49.8 yards on four attempts, but left with an injury in the second half. Maynard is expected to play Sunday night against Dallas.

The Bears signed Jimoh on Sept. 11 and cut him before the Kansas City game. He had 65 special teams tackles and 28 on defense over four seasons with the Washington Redskins.
