BIG ISLE SHOWCASE

ENJOY TASTE OF THE HAWAIIAN RANGE

More than 30 top Island chefs will participate in Mealani's Taste of the Hawaiian Range from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Hilton Waikoloa Village. (Mealani, an experimental farm, coordinates the event sponsored by the Cooperative Extension Service of the University of Hawai'i-Manoa's College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources).

This event showcases local produce in gorgeous displays, and challenges chefs to make use of less-premium cuts or unusual cuts assigned to them, from brisket (Ed Kenney of town and Downtown) to shoulder clods (D.K. Kodama of Sansei and d.k Steak House).

Tickets: $35 advance; $70 door. Call 808-887-6183 to find ticket sale locations.
