HAWAI'I KAI
Hearing set on blowhole plans

Advertiser Staff

The city will hold a public hearing Friday on its application for a major special management area use permit that will enable it to move forward with plans to renovate the Halona Blowhole.

The meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Koko Head District Park.

Renovation includes reconstructing the upper viewing areas, demolishing the lower viewing area that was closed in 1997 because of safety concerns, installing interpretive signs and adding Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility.

For more information or to testify, contact Lin Wong at the city's Department of Planning and Permitting at 768-8033.
