Fundraiser for Hawaii surfer at Hard Rock tonight

Hawai'i surfing icon and artist Jeannie Chesser was recently diagnosed with Merkel cell carcinoma. Her friends are holding a fundraiser tonight to help her defray medical costs.

A fundraiser for Hawai'i surfing icon and artist Jeannie Chesser, who was recently diagnosed with Merkel cell carcinoma, will take place tonight at the Hard Rock Cafe.

The event, which will feature live entertainment and a silent auction, starts at 9:30 p.m.

Cost is $15.

All proceeds will help Chesser, 58, with her medical costs.

About 1,200 new cases of the rare skin cancer are diagnosed each year in the United States.
