High surf advisory remains in effect

Strong trade winds are keeping the high surf advisory in effect for eastern shores until 6 p.m. today with surf reaching 8 feet, the National Weather Service said.Forecast surf heights are estimates of the height of the face, or front, of the waves.
The weather service said the surf will continue to be rough and linger in the 5- to 8-foot range along east shores before dropping to moderate levels Friday. Moderate surf will continue along south shores through the weekend with surf expected to be 4 to 6 feet today.
West shores will see surf 3 to 5 feet, while surf along north shores will be 4 to 6 feet.
