Winning song composers

Three Windward O'ahu composers took top honors at the song composers competition held last weekend at Windward Mall.

Na Mele Kane'ohe, part of a community-wide series of events, was coordinated by the Ko'olaupoko Hawaiian Civic Club and the Celebrate Kane'ohe steering committee.

D. Ululani Uchima of Kane'ohe won the amateur division with "Kane'ohe Ka 'Aina E." Herb Lee's "No Kane'ohe Mai Au" took first place in the professional division. And Donna Ann Kameha'iku Camvel won the Hawaiian language division with "Nani 'o Mokapu."

First-place winners received $1,000 each.
