KHNL's HD broadcasts no longer on DISH Network

Advertiser Staff

Local NBC-affiliate KHNL-8's high-definition signal has been dropped from DISH Network's Hawai'i satellite TV lineup.

A DISH Network spokeswoman said the decision was made following customer complaints about the quality of the satellite TV provider's rebroadcast of KHNL's HD signal. The issue involves Dish Network's decision to receive KHNL's HD broadcast over the air rather than via a direct fiber-optic link, said John Fink, general manager for KHNL. That has lead to fluctuations in the quality of DISH Network's rebroadcast, he said.

KHNL's standard-definition channel is still available on DISH Network.

Fink said there were no discussions with DISH Network about restoring availability of KHNL HD on the satellite provider's service.
