HAWAI'I DENTAL SERVICE

Gabriel Lee, senior vice president of commercial markets at American Savings Bank, has been re-elected chairman of the 13-member board of Hawai'i Dental Service, the state's leading dental benefits plan provider. Other HDS volunteer officers, elected from leaders in the local business and dentist community, include Gregory Dwight Dunn, executive director of the Hawai'i Nature Center, re-elected first vice chairman and assistant secretary; T. Kimo Blaisdell, senior vice president - sales with Robeco Investment Management, re-elected second vice chairman and assistant treasurer; Michael O'Malley, tax partner with Accuity LLP, elected secretary; and Dr. Norman Chun, a dentist in private practice in Kailua, was elected treasurer. All will serve one-year terms.

RESORTQUEST

ResortQuest Hawai'i has named Cara Okawa vice president of sales and revenue development. Okawa, who worked as ResortQuest before taking positions at Castle Resorts & Hotels and Aqua Hotels, is a 20-year veteran in the industry. Based in Honolulu, ResortQuest manages 5,000 hotel, condominium, villa and cottage accommodations in 26 properties on O'ahu, Maui, Kaua'i and the Big Island, as well as vacation rentals nationwide.

KAUA'I MARRIOTT RESORT & BEACH CLUB

Jay Heidenreich has been named director of sales and marketing for the 356-room Kaua'i Marriott Resort & Beach Club, working not only with leisure and group bookings, but food and beverage sales — as well as the resort's day-to-day marketing, advertising and public relations functions. Previously, he was the director of sales and marketing at Princeville Resort on The Garden Isle. The Marriott is on 51 oceanfront acres overlooking Kalapaki Beach and Nawiliwili Bay.

PRUDENTIAL LOCATIONS

Cynthia White and Dean Kim have been hired as Prudential Locations marketing manager and sales coach, respectively:

White will be responsible for managing external communications for Prudential Locations' Fine Homes properties, and for helping develop marketing programs to acquire and retain clients and help agents promote properties. Formerly, she was with Wells Fargo, Private Client Services and Starr Seigle Communications.

In addition to responsibilities as sales coach, Kim will also help agents prepare nominations for the Honolulu Board of Realtors Aloha 'Aina awards. He previously worked with The Queen's Health Systems, The Queen's Medical Center, PharmaRx Hawai'i LCC, as well as at Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties as an assistant branch manager.

APPROVED FREIGHT FORWARDERS OF HAWAI'I

SANDI AKAZAWA has been promoted to general manager of Approved Freight Forwarders of Hawai'i, which handles ocean shipments between the Mainland and Hawai'i and Guam. She began with the company as sales manager. The firm has operations on O'ahu, Kaua'i, Maui, the Big Island and Guam.
