Big Island designer Sig Zane has, for more than 20 years, perpetuated the Hawaiian culture by including hula, native plants and flowers as themes for his stunning and sophisticated textiles.

During recent years, with the help of his son, Kuhao, he has expanded into a wide range of design projects, from surf- boards and Outrigger Hotel employee uniforms to handbags, kicks for Converse shoes and packaging for Big Island Candy Co.

His latest creation is a collaboration with none other than the venerable Tiffany & Co., with whom he has partnered to create a pendant embodying the logo of the Moku O Keawe Foundation. The foundation, of which Zane is an advisory committee member, will host its second annual hula festival in Waikoloa this November.

The pendant will be unveiled tomorrow at Celebrate Moku O Keawe! — a kickoff to the November festival. The event is scheduled for 5:30 to 9 p.m. in the Naupaka Room of the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. Information: kuhao@sigzane.com or 808-990-4297.
