Young woman injured at Maunawili Falls

Advertiser Staff

A young woman was rescued by Honolulu Fire Department crews today after being injured at Maunawili Falls.

She was in stable condition at The Queen's Medical Center, EMS personnel said.

HFD Capt. Terry Seelig said the 19-year-old woman was at the falls with a group of hikers when she fell about 15 feet.

A rescue crew hiked in on foot and an HFD helicopter went to her aid, Seelig said.

The HFD crews got her safely out of the area, and the EMS crews took her to Queen's, said EMS spokesman Bryan Cheplic.

The extent of her injuries was not known.
