Police waiting for suspect to return to shore at Sunset

Police and firefighters are at Sunset Beach on the North Shore waiting for a man, who is a criminal suspect, to return to shore.When officers approached the man about 1 a.m., he jumped into the water fully clothed and with his backpack on, police said.
They said he quickly swam out of range of the officers' flashlights.
Firefighters are at the scene helping police search for the man and the Fire Department's helicopter has been called to aid in the search.
