It's a heavy-hitter weekend at the multiplexes, with the acclaimed "Eastern Promises" and "In the Valley of Elah" — both given four stars by critic Roger Ebert — debuting on Island screens. On the other end of the spectrum, there's the fluff of "Sydney White" and the raunch of "Good Luck Chuck." Need we mention "Resident Evil: Extinction"?

And in between, for your consideration, is the romantic comedy "2 Days in Paris," starring Julie Delpy and Adam Goldberg, who play a couple whose relationship is faltering. They vacation in Europe, winding down in Paris.

Ebert, who gives it three stars, says Delpy, who also directed, wrote, edited and co-produced, "has made a smart film with an edge to it. ... What she has done here is avoid all temptation to recycle the usual lovers-in-Paris possibilities and create two original, quirky characters so obsessed with their differences that Paris is almost a distraction."

It's rated R, for sexual content and language; 96 minutes. It's screening at the Dole complex.
