Big Island man charged with multiple theft offenses

Big Island prosecutors have charged a Kona man with five counts of theft, five counts of possession of confidential identification, two counts of ID theft, drug paraphernalia, promoting a detrimental drug, theft of a credit card, fraudulent use of a credit card and theft of mail.

Paul Ebel, 40, of Honomalino, who was charged Friday, is being held at the Kona police cellblock in lieu of $80,000 bail.

Detectives from the Kona Criminal Investigations Section seized stolen property and mail in a warrant search of Ebel's residence which led to charges.
