Iacovelli, Kusutani win Niketown 5K titles

Advertiser Staff

Todd Iacovelli and Sayuri Kusutani were the first to finish, but the real winners of today's 8th annual Niketown 5K were the O'ahu schools that will receive more than $130,000 from the fundraiser.

As in past years, 100 percent of the entry fees for the 5K and the 1-mile kids run/walk will be donated to schools to support their play, physical education and athletic programs, and purchase play equipment.

The top fund-raising schools were: Ma'ema'e Elementary School (559 runners, $8,385 raised); Maryknoll Grade School (429, $6,435); St. Andrew's Priory (346, $5,190); Kaimuki Middle School (319, $4,785), and Kapolei High School (317, $4,755).

Iacovelli finished in 15 minutes, 1 second while Kusutani was fastest female in 18:19.
